Who won the bloody war anyway !?
Personally, I liked my late grandfather’s reaction to Quebec’s arrogant whining classes (which oddly resembled Basil Fawlty’s response in the episode, The Germans) that went something like, "Who won the bloody war anyway !?"
It’s not about language, uniqueness or separation ; it’s about fairness, Editorial - The National Post, 5 décembre 2008
"Gilles Duceppe [...] his open appeal to race and ethnicity. Barack Obama might be all the rage among the Quebecois intellectuals, but don't expect, a Barack Obama in Quebec any time soon"
"Quebec is offended?
The most racist and mono-cultural province in Canada?"
"At some point, we will have to consider that individuals who live within the provincial walls of Quebec are not actually any sort of "distinct society"- as if they were a lost tribe of tree-dwelling polygamous pygmies."
"I can see how Anglophones may be pissed off when so much money goes Quebec's way and they still cop the aloof attitude we are so accustomed to. Think of it this way: they are proud of their "pride" in themselves. Bunch of free loaders!!"
"I'm 100% behind the PM attacking the exploitation of tribalism.
It's the Bloc that has chosen that as its modus operandi. These decrepit old men with tired ideas in an increasingly global world, continue to stir up Balkan-style ethnic divisions.
[...]
It's time for Quebecers (and others)to choose and judge based on what an individual stands for not which tribe he belongs to; what he contributes, not what he'll ask for."
